Cordillera Huayhuash

This trekking covers a large part of the Huayhuash mountain range and is considered to be the second most beautiful trekking in the world.
The Cordillera Huayhuash is located in the central highlands of Peru south of the Cordillera Blanca. It has 7 mountains that exceed 6000 meters high and other mountains that exceed the 5500 meters between them is the second highest mountain in Peru the Yerupaja (6634m) as well Siula Grande (6356m) made famous by the climber Joe Simpson "Touching the Avoid" among others like the Rondoy (5879m), Jirishanca (6094m), Yerupaja Chico (6121m), Sarapo (6,127m), Butcher (5,975m), Trapeze (5,644m), Diablo Mudo (5,223m) and the Pumarinri (5,465m).

Itinerary:

Day 1: Llamac (3300m) - Paso Pampa Llamac (4,300m) - Jahuacocha (4100m)
Transfer in transport to the town of Llamac where is the starting point of the trek in ascent for 3 hours to the pass Pampa Llamac 4,300m.

» Walking Time: 5 a 6 hours approx.
» Camping: Jahuacocha (4100m)

Day 2: Jahuacocha (4,100m) - Paso Sambunya (4,700m) - Cuartelhuain
This day we will ascend until we reach the Sambunya pass at an altitude of 4700m. from where you can see the Rondoy mountains, Jirishanca chico and Jirishanca grande, Yerupaja, Rasac, Sacra and the Solteracocha lagoon.

» Walking Time: 5 a 6 hours approx.
» Camping: Cuartelhuain (4100 m)

Day 3: Cuartelhuain (4,100m) - Paso Cacananpunta (4,750m) – Mitucocha (4150m)
This day we will climb for about 3 hours towards the Cacananpunta pass at a height of 4,750m. From where we can appreciate the mountains of the Huallanca mountain range.

» Walking Time: 5 a 6 hours approx.
» Camping: Mitucocha (4150m)

Day 4: Mitucocha (4,150m) - Paso Carhuac (4,600m) - Carhuacocha (4200 m)
This day we will ascend towards the Carhuac Pass at a height of 4,600m. from where we can appreciate the mountains as: Butcher, Siula, Yerupaja grande and Yerupaja chico.

» Walking Time: 5 a 6 hours approx.
» Camping: Carhuacocha (4200 m)

Day 5: Carhuacocha (4200 m) – Paso Siula (4830 m) – Carhuacocha
This day we will ascend to the Siula Pass at a height of 4,830m. From here we can appreciate the mountains of Siula, Yerupaja grande and Yerupaja chico and the 3 famous lagoons of Huayhuash.

» Walking Time: 5 a 6 hours approx.
» Camping: Carhuacocha (4200 m)

Day 6: Laguna Carhuacocha 4,200m - Queropalca (3830 m)
This day we will walk towards the town of Queropalca and thus we leave behind the Huayhuash mountain range.

» Walking Time: 4 a 5 hours approx.
» Camping: Queropalca (3830 m)

Day 7: Queropalca – Huanucopampa - Huaraz (3100 m)
After say good bye our donkey drivers we will board our private mobility towards Huanucopampa; Inca archaeological site. Which we will visit for approx. 1 hour, then continue the return to Huaraz.

» Walking Time: 1 hora aprox. (8 hours by bus)
